Diversity Matters – ProcureStaff Exhibits at ISM Black Executive Summit

Diversity in Human Capital Supply Chain Management to be Focus

March 20, 2009 -- The Institute of Supply Management’s sixth annual Black Executive Summit will host an exhibition by ProcureStaff, a leader in human capital supply chain management solutions. The summit is held March 25th through the 27th at the Doubletree Hotel in Orlando, Florida. A historic innovator in the services procurement space, ProcureStaff is again demonstrating leadership in fostering diversity among the staffing suppliers that provide temporary labor to ProcureStaff clients. Over the last several years, ProcureStaff has developed the capacity to achieve diversity spend goals as high as 100% for its clients.

Attendees, while already aware of the importance of diversity in the creation of a strong and viable contingent workforce, will benefit from exposure to the strategies ProcureStaff employs. Members of the National Minority Supplier Diversity Council (NMSDC), ProcureStaff has long championed diversity as a core ethic and taken steps to educate its clients about the benefits that maintaining diversity can deliver. ProcureStaff highlights how engaging high levels of diversity suppliers as well as diversity candidates builds inroads into broader and often untapped communities in both domestic and foreign markets. Each year, ProcureStaff hosts supplier forums and mentoring workshops to aid smaller diversity firms in developing the competencies required to win staffing business from the Global 1000 companies that comprise ProcureStaff’s client roster.

The ISM Summit this year will focus on the fundamentally changing expectations among the different generations of minority professionals. Today contingent workforces can span four generations from retirees returning to perform contract work, through the Baby Boomers, Generation X and Generation Y. Sweeping progress has been made in terms of racial equality over the span of these four generations and as a result, each generation holds different perspectives on what diversity means to business success. To speak to this issue, ProcureStaff is sponsoring a speaker on Thursday, March 26. Clarissa L. Davis-Lindsey a Diversity Manager from Teradata will deliver an executive session entitled, “The Paradox of Entitlement: How Intergenerational Tensions Prevent Conversations That Matter”. Ms. Davis-Lindsey’s presentation abstract offers:

“The modern workforce has more ethnic and gender diversity, technological savvy, and a more informal style than its predecessors. Perceptions of entitlement — whether real or projected — within the generations become a barrier to communication, preventing conversations that matter. Explore the prevailing biases harbored by different generations and get useful tips that reach across generational, cultural and gender divides. Learn to open the lines of communication and build strong succession plans.”
